Knitting the Community Together (Dún Laoghaire & remote)
|
Are you a knitter or crocheter who would love to join a creative community coming together to knit/crochet for a cause you care about—and make a positive difference along the way?
Knitting the Community Together is a Dún Laoghaire Rathdown Volunteer Centre project that brings knitters and crocheters together to create handmade items for charities across our community (including the National Maternity Hospital, Alzheimer's Society of Ireland, Team Hope - Shoebox Appeal, Community Connect, Knitted Knockers Ireland,)
Where & when:
- In-person sessions from 11am -1pm in The Lexicon Library starting on Tuesday 15th September 2026 and running fortnightly until December 15th. As space is limited, these sessions are pre-bookable only; we cannot guarantee space for drop ins. These sessions are designed to be chatty, low-pressure and to create space for people to contribute at their own pace.

Wool, needles, and patterns will be provided.
If you enjoy knitting or crochet and have some experience, we’d especially love to have you involved. Your skills can help bring our community together and make a meaningful difference.

Making Connections is a non profit Befriending and Support Service working to enhance the physical health and well being of older people who may be experiencing loneliness or isolation and who wish to age well at home.
They currently require Volunteers for the following Befriending roles:
- Support to older ladies (Companionship at Home) – Blackrock
- Weekly Support (Support With Forms, Letters and Chat) - Churchtown
- Support at home (Housebound Older Man) – Irishtown

Dublin Theatre Festival Volunteers
|
Dublin Theatre Festival is looking for enthusiastic and friendly Volunteers to help out at this year’s festival, running from 24 September to 11 October 2026.
If you’re passionate about the arts and eager to get involved in a busy and exciting festival, this could be the role for you!
Roles include:
- Ushers,
- Front of house stewards,
- Assisting with the box office and events,
- Conducting market research.
If you are over 18 years of age, have conversational English, are comfortable on your feet and are interested in getting involved, they would love to hear from you.
Volunteers with Irish Sign Language (ISL) skills are encouraged to apply, as some productions are looking for front-of-house support to assist ISL audience members during the festival.

Online shopper for Meals on Wheels Dundalk (remote role)
|
Dundalk Meals on Wheels require Volunteers to help older people order grocery deliveries direct to their homes. Pantry Porter is a new service from Dundalk Meals on Wheels, allowing older customers to dial in a grocery order for delivery from Dunnes Stores.
Key tasks include:
- Contacting the customers and placing their grocery order using the Dunnes Stores website.
- Arranging a delivery time slot.
- Confirming all calls and orders to the administrative staff.
Skills required: Good listening skills and patience are necessary for this role. Excellent English and clear communication skills are also required.
They are looking for people who are comfortable with email and online grocery shopping. You will need access to a computer or tablet and phone.

Lakers Social & Recreational Club is seeking a Volunteer Kitchen Helper to join the team.
As part of the kitchen team, the Volunteer will assist with food preparation, serving meals, washing dishes, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment. This is a great opportunity to meet new people, develop practical skills, and make a positive difference in the lives of others.
The Volunteer must have fluent English and be available for the required weekly commitment. No previous experience is required.
Commitment - 3pm to 5:30pm on Wednesdays.
If you have a positive attitude, a willingness to help, and an enthusiasm for working as part of a team they would love to hear from you. They welcome volunteers of all backgrounds who are keen to get involved and help make a difference.
